Der Künstler ist vor Signierung / der Auflage am 11. Januar 1966 gestorben“ (Eau-forte, créée en novembre 1965 pour l’envoi de 1961-1963 de la Schweizerische Graphische Gesellschaft. L’artiste est décédé le 11 janvier 1966 avant d’avoir signé l’édition).

Material und Verbleib der Platte unbekannt (gemäss Werkverzeichnis Kornfeld/Fondation Giacometti ist der Verbleib der Platte bekannt), die Auflage blieb unsigniert wegen Erkrankung des Künstlers / The artist authorized the printing, but did not live to sign the numbered edition oft he prints.

'Studio With the Easel (…), created in November of 1965, is one of the last etchings that Giacometti authorized to be printed. Considering just how famous Giacometti had become towards the end of his life, it is another exercise in modesty and simplicity, yet is no less attractive for that. As Herbert Lust pointed out, the prints made during the last five years of Giacometti’s life emphasize serenity, restraint, understatement, and a calm in their composition (…). Compared to earlier works, there is more tranquil energy within the incised strokes, yet Giacometti still succeeds in giving each of the objects their own raison d’être. His friend Jean Genet could not have put it better when he described this unique characteristic of Giacometti’s work: “This ability to isolate an object and to funnel the very significance of the object into itself can only be achieved by the abolition of historical notions of perception. It must have been an exceptional effort to disassociate oneself from all of history, so that things would not result in an eternal present, but rather a stunning and uninterrupted journey from a past towards a future, an oscillation from one extreme to the next, preventing one from ever resting.”' (de Vries, 2019, 198ff; Lust, 1991, 85; Genet, 1958, 34).
